Active Fin Stabilization
Project Type
Photography
Date
April 2023
As project manager of the Ram Rocketry club at Colorado State University, I am very proud of our Active Fin Stabilization project which was able to control and correct the roll, pitch, and yaw orientations during flight. The flight computer, running on a Teensy 4.1, used a BMP280 Barometric Pressure sensor to detect apogee, and a BNO085 Inertial Measurement Unit for acceleration and orientation data. That data was fed into 4 servo motors that changed the pitch of the fins, altering it's attitude.
